Medical Certificate
Medical Certificate
A medical certificate is required for expedition participants who are 66 years of age or older or have a disability or medical condition(s). The medical certificate must document their suitability to complete the journey and their ability to cope with, for example, desolate and climatically difficult areas. Refer to this section for details on the requirements for medical certificates.
Only applicable for expeditions accompanied by a qualified medical professional:
A general medical statement may be used when a qualified medical professional is present throughout the expedition. This applies to e.g. cruise expeditions (usually larger vessels), research stations and other expeditions where medical assessments can be carried out on-site.
The general medical statement must describe how participants aged 66 or older, or those with known medical conditions, will be assessed and confirmed fit to take part in any physically demanding or off-vessel / off-station activities.
If no qualified medical professional is present, individual medical certificates are required.
