Preparation for Part 1 of the application process consists of:
- Determine if you need more than one type of permit – read more about this below
- Determine how many trips and groups your activity consist of – read more about this below
- Depending on your activity, determine if you need additional permits beside the expedition permit
- Depending on your activity, read and get familiar with rules and regulations
- Depending on the type of expedition get insurance or bank guarantee
- Determine if there is requirement for medical certificate
- Review ‘Operational Conditions & Obligation to Notify’

Expedition number
You are required to reference the expedition number throughout the entire application and expedition process:
- All subsequent stages of the expedition application process.
- Corresponding with the Expedition Office regarding this particular expedition.
- Please also note: Only one expedition (expedition number) will be handled per correspondence.
- All communication with other public authorities, relevant partners and stakeholders.
Part 1 of the application must be submitted no later than 12 weeks prior to the start date.
Please note:
- The system automatically saves the progress, allowing applicant to return later and continue filling out the application form.
- The applicant will be able to edit the contact details and other information during the various parts of the application process.
- The contact details the applicant provides will be used for all communication regarding the expedition application.
- The applicant must ensure that the contact details are accurate and up to date throughout the entire application process.

Submit Expedition Application Part 1
Once Part 1 of the expedition application has been submitted, the system will automatically generate 2 emails to you within 10-15 minutes:
- E-mail 1 will be a link for setting up user profile and password.
- E-mail 2 will contain your expedition number, the invoice with payment instructions, and the link for Part 2 of the expedition application process.
