Exempted activities
The following activities do not require an expedition permit under Executive Order No. 138 of 8 February 2010, or a National Park access permit under Executive Order No. 7 of 17 June 1992, when conducted within their respective legal frameworks:
Local hunting and fishing activities carried out by residents of Greenland, in accordance with the Hunting and Fishing Regulations administered by the Government of Greenland.
Mineral exploration or extraction activities conducted under the Mineral Resources Act, which are regulated separately by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Justice.
Official operations conducted by Danish, Greenlandic, or NATO authorities, where expedition or access permits are not required — though prior notification to the Department of Nature, Environment and Justice may still be necessary for coordination and safety purposes.
These exemptions apply solely to the above-mentioned activities under their respective legal provisions.
Applicants remain responsible for ensuring compliance with any other relevant regulations, such as those related to environmental protection, cultural heritage, or aviation.
